Sajama Information

Weather-- In 1996, UMass Geoscience Department members established a permanent satellite-linked weather
station at the summit of Sajama.  Here's some interesting data from their weather logs.

        June 97    Maximum temperature - 5C (23F), minimum temperature -21C (-6F)
        July 97    Maximum temperature - 5C (23F), minimum temperature -19C (-2F)

        June 98    Maximum temperature - 5C (23F), minimum temperature -18C (0F)
        July 98    Maximum temperature - 3C (27F), minimum temperature -18C (0F)

You can visit the site at  http://www.geo.umass.edu/climate/bolivia.html
They also have some excellent pictures of Sajama, including the best one I've seen of the northwest ridge
("Sajama from the west" in the Sajama images section of the website), which will be our route of ascent.
