Coney Island, mythic center of New York, was little more than run down bars, rides, ruins and memories when I painted there in the 1990s. Yet I was drawn back again summer after
summer to paint the remnant of a once fantastic place. If you look closely it is all still there-- in the creaking
roller coaster, boardwalk, fishing pier and blazing, hazy sun.
